AMERICAN GIRL BOOK CLUB
First Friday from 4:15 to 5:15

American Girl Book ClubWho: Anyone ages 7 and up!

What: Learn how American Girls used to live by playing their games, eating their food, and reading their stories.

When: First Friday of every month from 4:15-5:15 p.m. from February to May

Where: Room 219 at the Hudson Public Library

American Girl dolls are welcome, but not necessary!

At each meeting we will discuss the history of a different American Girl character as well as make food and play games from their time period.  At the end of each meeting, the girls will receive the first book in the series of the American Girl for that month (i.e. On February 5th we will discuss Samantha and 1904 and they will receive the Meet Samantha book).  Girls are encouraged to continue the rest of the series if they enjoy the first book!  At the next meeting we will discuss the first book and learn about the next American Girl. CANDY HEART BINGO
Saturday, February 13 from 10:30 to noon

Candy Heart Bingo will be held on February 13 from 10:30-noon. This is a family event for all ages. Anyone can stop by and play for prizes in the Children's Area.

RHYME TIME BABY STORY TIME
Now through Wednesday, April 27

Rhyme Time Baby Story Time is for children birth to talking. Babies and their caregivers are invited to join us for 20 minutes of stories, puppets, poems, finger plays, and action activities.

Registration is not required.

Programs are held every Wednesday at 10:15 a.m. The current session runs through Wednesday, April 27. 

WALKEY-TALKEY STORY TIME
Now through Tuesday, April 26

Walkey-Talkey Story Time is for children talking to age 3. Children and their caregivers are invited to join us in the story room for 25 minutes of stories, songs, poems, puppets, and activities.

Registration is not required.

Programs are held every Tuesday and Wednesday at 11:15 a.m. The current session runs through Wednesday, April 27.

WIGGLES AND GIGGLES STORY TIME
Now through Thursday, April 28

Wiggles and Giggles Story Time is for children ages 3-5. Open the world of books by participating with them during the weekly story time. Books, puppets, songs, poems, flannel board stories, crafts, and action activities help to ready your child for a future of reading.

Registration is not required.

Programs are held on Tuesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. and Thursdays at 10:15 a.m. The current session runs through Thursday, April 28.

AUTISM RESOURCES

Hudson Area Library and several others in the library system received a grant to purchase more books and DVDs about autism. These include materials that might be useful for therapy (MeMoves, Floortime, and more) for parents and others seeking more information. For a list of all rhe resources purchased with this grant and available on the MORE system, go to the catalog (more.lib.wi.us) and search in Quick List for 2012 Autism Grant or just follow this link: 2012 Autism Grant. The Hudson Library has over 50 books about autism. They may be found in the Parent-Teacher room, located in the Children's Department. The Hudson Library is participating in a grant project through the Indianhead Federated Library System, provided by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.

BOARDMAKER SOFTWARE

BoardmakerHudson Area Library has Boardmaker software available for parents and caregivers to use. Boardmaker is software that makes it easy to create communication displays, education materials, social stories, and visual schedules. Many schools use it and now you can create your own materials. Copies are free and lamination is available now at no charge. If you do not already know how to use it, call the library (715-386-3101 ext. 104) to make an appointment with someone to help you get started.
